CBEST Registration Info

CBEST Registration Info & How to Save on Registration Costs...

Here we provide a general overview of CBEST registration info, along with some basic advice on how to save on CBEST registration costs.  For current 2014 California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) administrations, registration may be completed via telephone, internet, or mail.  Internet registration is available for the regular, late, and emergency deadlines, while telephone registration is available only for the late and emergency deadlines.  As of January 2012, the regular CBEST registration fee for the paper-based CBEST exam is $41 (an additional fee of $60 will apply should you decide to take the computer-based test).  However, there is also an additional $18 fee for late registration, and an additional $35 fee for "emergency registration," so we generally recommend that our students plan their test dates and register for the CBEST well in advance, if possible, to avoid these additional registration costs.  Click below to view a current listing of test dates and CBEST registration deadlines...

The CBEST is comprised of three subtests: Math, Reading, and Writing.  These sections may be taken together or separately, and may be passed at separate test administrations.  If you register for the paper-based exam, you will automatically be registered for all three sections, though you may take only certain sections, if you wish.  If you register for the computer-based exam, you will have the option to select the specific subtests you wish to take.  The cost is the same regardless of the number of subtests in which you enroll, so it is usually advantageous to register for as many CBEST sections as you feel comfortable taking at a given sitting.  Keep in mind that once you register for the CBEST, you may not change your section selection (unless you withdraw and re-register), so be sure to plan ahead regarding the sections you wish to take.
