CSET - Registration Info

CSET Registration Info & How to Save on Registration Costs...

Here we provide a general overview of CSET registration info, along with some basic advice on how to save on CSET registration costs.  For current 2015-2016 California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET) administrations, registration may be completed via telephone, internet, or mail.  Internet registration is available for the regular, late, and emergency deadlines, while telephone registration is available only for the late and emergency deadlines.  As of January 2012, the regular CSET registration fee ranges from $66-$96 per subtest, depending on the particular exam you are taking.  For example, the testing fee for single subject CSET Mathematics, Science, and Social Science is $66 per subtest, while the fee for CSET English is $49-50 per subtest.  However, for all tests, there is also an additional $18 fee for late registration, and an additional $35 fee for "emergency registration," so we generally recommend that our students plan their test dates and register for the CSET well in advance, if possible, to avoid these additional registration costs.  Click below to view a current listing of test dates and CSET registration deadlines...

The costs for the CSET Multiple Subjects exam differ slightly from the CSET single subject exams.  For CSET Multiple Subjects, the testing fee is $96 per subtest if taken separately, but only $238 if all three subtests are taken together (a $50 savings), so for some test-takers, it is financially advantageous to take all three CSET Multiple Subjects subtests at a given sitting.  Keep in mind, however, that you will receive a total of five hours for testing if you take all three subtests together.  If you take Subtest 1 or 2 individually, you will have 3 hours to complete that particular subtest, and if you take Subtest 3 individually, you have 2 hours and 15 minutes, meaning that taking subtests individually allows you a bit more time per subtest.  We recommend taking a full-length practice test and timing yourself on each subtest to determine your individual pace, and what testing scenario will serve you best, before registering.
