Position description: Work with individuals independently either at public location(s) of your choice or online via easy Teachers Test Prep online interface. Utilize Teachers Test Prep instructional methods and materials to teach subject matter and test-taking techniques, and to evaluate students' strengths and weaknesses, tailoring tutoring program to their individual needs. We are currently hiring tutors for the following exams:
CSET Single Subject Science -- Subtests include: (1) Astronomy, Dynamic Processes of the Earth, Earth Resources, Waves, Forces and Motion, and Electricity and Magnetism, (2) Ecology, Genetics and Evolution, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, Cell and Organismal Biology, Heat Transfer and Thermodynamics, and Structure and Properties of Matter. Candidates must be able to teach both subtests and assist in the development of teaching materials.
CSET Single Subject English -- Subtests include: (1) Literature and Textual Analysis; Composition and Rhetoric, (2) Language, Linguistics, and Literacy, (3) Composition and Rhetoric; Literature and Textual Analysis, (4) Communications: Speech, Media, and Creative Performance. Candidates must be able to teach all four subtests.
Hours: Part time. Flexible based on your availability.
Equipment: Must have access to computer with high speed internet connection.
Compensation: $25-35/hr, dependent on qualifications.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelors degree. Two years or more of experience teaching/tutoring. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong understanding of the foundational concepts in each subject matter domain of the CSET subtests you will be teaching. Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for helping students learn.
Applicants need not have taken the exam, but candidates making it to the second interview round may be asked to take a written evaluation and perform a mock tutoring session to establish subject matter competency.
