We’re seeking experienced and enthusiastic educators who want to help the next generation of teachers pass their Praxis Core exams.

Position description: You'll help prepare aspiring teachers for their exams using Teachers Test Prep slideshows and practice tests. You will present subject matter and test-taking strategies in a clear and engaging manner, as well as answer students’ questions. Content will cover all sections of the exam, so you must feel comfortable teaching Math, Reading and Writing content.

One of the main skills for this job is being responsive to students’ needs while maintaining the necessary pace to cover all the key content in the time allotted. Class sizes generally range from between 10-40 students.

You will initially teach online Zoom classes. However, as we plan to introduce in-person classes in the future, we are seeking candidates who are prepared to teach both online and face-to-face.

Note: There is also an opportunity available to teach Praxis Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects classes, if interested.

Hours: Part-time. In-person classes are held quarterly and involve approximately 18 hours of teaching over one weekend (Friday night and all day Saturday and Sunday).

Zoom classes are also held quarterly and are offered in 2-hour sessions held twice a week outside of work hours, over a 4-5 week period.

Location: In-person classes will be held at a college or conference facility in Newark, New Jersey.

Zoom classes are delivered from your home or preferred location.

Equipment: You must have a reliable laptop capable of running PowerPoint presentations. For online classes, you will need a high-speed internet connection and a computer able to run Zoom.

Starting compensation: $45/hr.

Minimum qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree and at least five years’ teaching experience are required for this role. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must, as well as a strong understanding of the foundational concepts for all sections of the Praxis Core exam (Mathematics, Reading and Writing). Interpersonal skills, energy and an enthusiasm for helping students learn are also essential.

Candidates advancing to the second round of interviews will be asked to do a mock teaching session and Q&A to demonstrate their subject matter knowledge and teaching skills.
