Prep Class Instructor (In-Person and Online)

Position description: In-person instructors teach weekend test prep classes at local colleges, conference facilitites and other locations. Online instructors teach 2-hour prep classes on Zoom twice a week, across a number of weeks. Class size ranges from approximately 10 to 40 students. We particularly welcome candidates who are interested in teaching both in-person and online prep classes. 

As an instructor, you will utilize pre-designed Teachers Test Prep slideshow presentations, study guides and practice tests to help students prepare for their credentialing exams. You will present content knowledge and test-taking techniques in a clear and engaging manner, maintaining the necessary pace to cover all material in the time allotted. You will also answer students' questions and do your best to ensure they understand the content. 

Hours/Location: Part-time. In-person prep class instructors typically teach 1-2 full weekends every 2 months. Online prep class instructors generally teach 20-30 hours every 2 months, made up of twice-weekly 2-hour classes. 

Equipment: Applicants must have a reliable laptop computer capable of running PowerPoint presentations.

Compensation: $35-$50/hr, dependent on qualifications.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelors degree. At least 2 years teaching experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong understanding of the foundational concepts in each subject matter domain you will teach. Strong interpersonal skills and an enthusiasm for helping students learn.

You need not have taken the exam you will be teaching; however, if you make it to the second round of interviews, you may be asked to take a written evaluation and/or perform a mock teaching session to establish subject matter competency.
