The Foundations of Reading (FoRT) (190/890) Test is an exam used to measure a candidate's understanding of reading and writing development and their ability to teach reading in the classroom.
The written exam covers 4 domains: Foundations of Reading Development, Development of Reading Comprehension, Reading Assessment and Instruction, and Integration of Knowledge and Understanding.
The TExES STR exam is currently available year-round by appointment in computer-based format at testing centers nationwide. The exam may also be taken remotely via online proctoring.
